And only going to get worse...
Alaska Gov. Walker's popularity dives sharply following PFD veto, new survey shows Author: Nathaniel Herz Updated: 2 hours ago Published 3 hours ago Alaska Gov. Bill Walker's honeymoon with voters has come to an abrupt end.
New data collected by pollster Ivan Moore show Walker's popularity taking a sharp dive after he vetoed half of Alaskans' Permanent Fund dividend checks in June — preserving $650 million in savings for the cash-strapped state but enraging a slice of its electorate.
Walker's positive rating dropped from 43 percent to 32 percent in Moore's latest quarterly statewide survey of 660 registered voters, which has a 3.8 percent margin of error.
Walker's negative rating spiked to 35 percent from 23 percent over the same period — between June and September — meaning that more respondents saw the governor in a negative light than in a positive light for the first time since he was elected in 2014.
Since the start of his term, Walker and state lawmakers have been grappling with a multi-billion dollar budget deficit, with sharp budget reductions and Walker's partial PFD veto among their responses.
Walker’s numbers in Moore’s poll track with a popularity decline recorded in a separate survey by media company Morning Consult. That survey said the governor’s approval rating dipped to 50 percent last month from 62 percent earlier this year.
The governor, in a statement sent by spokeswoman Katie Marquette, said he was focused on fixing the state’s budget problem instead of his approval rating.
“Given our state is facing a $3.2 billion deficit and has burned through nearly $13 billion of savings in just three years, now is not the time to be focused on poll numbers,” Walker’s statement said. “Now is the time to be focused on finding a solution to our fiscal challenges so we can bring stability back to Alaska’s economy.”
Walker is in the second year of his first term, and his approval rating peaked at 51 percent in the middle of last year in Moore’s survey.
The same statewide poll asked registered voters’ about their views on the presidential and congressional elections in Alaska, as well as Alaskans’ views on the state fiscal crisis and other issues. Those results will be released starting this weekend on Alaska Dispatch News.

Probably going to have to pay it out after spending a million or so defending his move in court...

they really do need to cut state spending, I'm sorry but imo, we spend far too much per capita to govern and provide service for 700K residents.
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

they really do need to cut state spending We do seem to have a problem with getting pretty proud our ourselves in the good times, and making stupid fiscal decisions. Boom and bust economies are hardly good environments for those without self-discipline, and we are seriously without.

Right now there is a road going in to extend 100th from "C" to Minnesota... through a swamp... for no real positive end.
Putting more idiots in rush hour traffic on "C" is ridiculous due to the absolute total POS anti-synchronization of the lights on "C"... and anyone coming to 100th on "C" has already passed multiple options to get on Minnesota... from either direction.
I realize road work needs to be scheduled and planned for way in advance, but that is a significant bunch of saving there...

What's hard to believe that morons approval rating was at 51% at this time last yr...
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Sad thing is the idiot Walker is making all the budget cutting noises, but not cutting much at all...
He iss off on another Asian junket to pimp gas... project was torched long ago and the fiscal weather says it will not get back to room temp for a very long time. Palin pretty well guaranteed that before she left. And yet he thinks he is going to sell gas at great distances in a World awash in natural gas...

While there are pot holes all over the Seward hwy that have been there for months. AK road construction often seems to leave one pondering WTF they were thinking when they planned the projects.

Now DOT has given us flashing amber left turn arrows. That's new on the Spur Hwy at least. I don't like them.

I signed the walker recall yesterday. It was very satisfying.
