Tooling isn't reality yet. No Medalist M77 stocks exist......

Now.....If a gap opens up B&C is looking at a replacement stock for the M77 MKII/Hawkeye.

Figured I'd get a little input from you fellas on doing such. Personally I've been chomping at the bit to get this going. Fingers crossed it can be done without interruption.

They should make one that copies the Hawkeye stock. All the synthetic stocks I see for Ruger 77 MKII and Hawkeyes have a cheek piece, except for the tang safety Ruger that McMillan has.

Just as little long as it doesn't have the ergos of the M77 carbelite...

Agreed, if they can keep it slender like the Hawkeye stock I'd be interested.

Yup,
Duping the hawkeye stock would be very good. I have a dozen or so MCM MKII classics and its nice stock as well.

I have have only owned a few B&C's through the years but have found them large and bulky through the wrist, so I hope they can keep that area slim.

I wonder if Ruger would put them on some models. While the M77 plastic stocks are good for a plastic stock, I much prefer the feel of fiberglass. Its just warmer and quieter to me, and a fiberglass stocked all weather would be a very nice rough country rifle.

Most likely it would follow something similar to the Alaskan Wilderness Rifle stock.
Perhaps slimmed up more than the AWR.
Not sure the cheek Piece would go away due to overall requests.
Zero stocks will be cast off old Carbelite profiles today.

Thanks for the input. I'll be sure and add it to the requests!

You work for B&C?

FWIW, I have a carbelite on a 700 LA. I love the way that stock feels, to the point where I have resisted upgrading to anything else. But the M77 one doesn't feel nearly as nice.

Keep the cheekpiece please.

And make the comb high enough to work well with a scope rather than low like the Hawkeye.

Would they have a block like the Medalist or pillars like a Ti stock?

Pretty much everything today has the full length chassis. That being said we have cut the overall weight of the chassis considerably in some of the newer offerings.

Noted on comb height.

I would like to give a date but with other projects going on I'd be shooting blind.

I would LOVE to have a stock like the AWR for the MkII. I bought 2 Ruger's in the last year on great deals, thinking they would make good project rifles. It was only after, that I discovered stock options are pretty much nil.

Just don't make them with those baseball wrists like the Howa/Weatherby models have.

Just to verify, if a Medalist is made for the Hawkeye, it will be of the newer (3rd generation?), lighter (~29 oz) style, similar to what is shipping on the current Extreme Weathers? I have a new production EW, and the B&C on it feels much nicer than the the last EW I owned. I see a lot of cheap used Rugers floating around, I would be much more interested in picking one or two up if I knew that I could plop them into a decent stock without dropping too much coin. I vote in favor of the cheek piece.

Copy the dimensions of a Hawkeye stock, make some so the bolt handle goes on the left side and tell me where to send my money!
