How far back does someone have to go to find an all steel H&R, or a h&r clone in all steel?
I don't care for their playoff trigger guards and other parts.

If you are talking about rifles, I am pretty sure they never had a metal trigger guard.

For shotguns, you probably have to go all way back to the model with a top lever (not a push button) that came out of worcester mass. Parts will not interchange.

None of the H&R single shots are in production since Remington took over and drove them into the ground and killed it.

If I am wrong, then consider this a bump up for your post.

Oh, and, I never heard of an H&R clone.

Edit: I hate to kick an old favorite when they are down, but; I never liked the plastic trigger guard either.

Thanks for the information.
I should have said, other rifles produced by them, such as;
Wesson & Harrington
New England firearms handi rifle
True, no steel trigger guards since 1991.
I was thinking pre 1986 parts might fit with a little work.

You might be able to get a generic "shotgun" trigger guard that would fit with a little modification. Numrich has one for the Savage 220/219. Just bent steel, but beats plastic.

I had done that with an old Remington 41.
Removed the plain bent metal trigger guard and replaced it with a steel guard I bought from Numerich.

This might help if you have a handi rifle or shotgun.

I'm not sure who produces it, but I'm positive that at some point in time I've encountered a replacement brass trigger guard for H&R rifles and shotguns. Maybe do a quick google search? Personally I'm not big fan of the plastic guard, but I can live with it, especially since the gun itself is not anything expensive or fancy; it's supposed to be a solid working gun at an affordable price and it's good for that, not much more. I've certainly found no structural/durability issue with the plastic parts up to this point in time (and I've used my Handi Rifle pretty hard) so I can't complain in that regard either. Just my $.02.

the only broken part on any of
the H&R/NEF firearms i've ever had is
a broken metal transfer bar. the plastic
trigger guard is really a non-issue
unless you just want metal for
aesthetic reasons

yea, Looks matter for some of us. And materials.

The strong suit for the H&R was simplicity, light easy carry and low cost. Good accuracy. If only it had better looks. I would have been happy to kick in another $50 for finish and parts upgrade. Ok, even a $100. Not for everybody. Now, Henry is going to make this gun. I understand it will be up-scaled.

I have, in the past, had metal parts installed instead of the plastic. I do not believe the parts are available now.
Graybeards.com is the place to ask.
