Anyone loading for the 6.5 WSM? I'm going to load some 140s and 123's and am thinking of starting with H-1000 and I-7977.
Any good load info?

I'd say the 6.5 WSM is close to the 6.5 SAUM? Maybe 60-61 grains H-1000 with the 140; work up as always

Is that what guys are using in the SAUM for 140s? I was thinking a little more? 60 is my load for 140s in the '06-AI. I was thinking at least a few grains more for the top end in the WSM.

Start low and work up. 61 grains in the SAUM is pushing a 140 grain bullet 3,000 to 3,100 fps with pressures below 60k.

Playing with a pound of RL 26, I am finding some quick velocity, low SD, and superb accuracy....
I'm a H1000 fan, but looks like RL 26 might be a good option when availability gets scarce...
its doing well in 308 and 06 sized cases, with heavier bullets...
it should be even better in a short mag...
just passing on the limited observations so far, but they've been impressive..

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've got a pile of both H-1000 and 7977 so I'll start with those. Based on the success of '1000 in the 6.5 SAUM, and my own results with 7977 in the 7 SAUM, I'm thinking I won't have to look any further.

I'm at 67.0 with H1000 in my 6.5 WSM. I am using 270 WSM brass 140 VLD, FED. 215 primer at 3220 fps in a 26" X-caliber 8TW barrel it shoots better than I can. Remember this in MY RIFLE start at 65.0 and work your way up.

I bought 300 winchester 270WSM brass about 10-12 years ago when I built my 6.5WSM.I have 6-8 firings on the brass that I just threw away from my first 50 rounds that I worked with. Some of the primer pockets were still tight on some of the brass I wanted to start over with new brass when I rebarreled to the X-Caliber barrel. My COAL is 3.083 and neck is .296 I trim my necks after necked down. I .I anneal before I neck down and after every other firing.

What dies are you guys running in your 6.5 wsm and how are you forming your cases?

My dies for the Leopard(6.5 WSM) are a custom set from Lee. My brass capacity is just short of the 264 win mag. Pick a powder and the starting loads for that, and work up.

What dies are you guys running in your 6.5 wsm and how are you forming your cases? I'm using .270 WSM brass and necking it down with a Redding 300 WSM neck-sizer bushing die. And using the same die to re-size. So far no need to bump the shoulder but I only have 1-2 firings on the brass. The plan is to use a .270 WSM FL die for that if/when I need to.

Not on the new brass that I am using on this barrel but I had to on my old brass. I made a case gauge with my reamer and I use that to keep track of my brass.

If I remember correctly it was around the 3-4 firings on the old brass that I had to bump the shoulder and it probably depends on how hot your loads are.
