Got lucky last night about 7. A nice 5pt. fit for the table! Our house will fair well this winter! Did I mention dressing an elk w/ a flashlight is a challenge?

Well done, Graeme!
Around here I let the opening weekend crowd go through before starting to get serious. I'll probably spend this week on antelope, since they tend to calm down considerably when most hunters head up into the mountains.

John D. stopped in this PM. He was out here looking for an antelope also. Nothing when I saw him. I walked in about 3 mi. w/ a total elevation change, both up & down of about 2700ft. Now wonder I didn't see anybody. It was "fun" walking out in the dark!! Glad I have horses for the real work.

I'm going to be looking for the first legal elk that's in a reasonable place for my Neet Kart (not as good as horses but less cost to feed). This year both brow-tined and antlerless elk are legal in the area we hunt most.
We have doe pronghorn tags this year. Got within 100 yards of a big doe last week, but she was silhouetted on a skyline with a subdivision beyond the ridge, so lived...at least for a few more days.

Last trip tomorrow. Rescuing "Bud the wonder mule" took most all of today. Know anyone who wants(needs) a mule???

I only know one guy crazy enough to own a mule and I hear he's not in the market at the moment.
