My battery was dead in one of my 1-6 VX6 scopes. So I replaced the battery and put it on a shelf to look at it without picking it up. Seems the LED is always on unless vibration is setting it off. Anyway, is this a frequent issue?

Mine (6-18) has a push button switch on the side focus knob. It awkward to use. you press the switch increase or decrease the illumination (pressing several times quick change from increasing to decreasing illum). to turn it off I just turn it way down.

I guess it turns off automatically, and comes back to the last setting when it gets picked up. I tried calling Leupold, and I was 55th in line, so I figured I ask here. I'm just going to take out the battery for now. I can put it in to hunt. Just a PITA to send it in and resight. My other VX6 turns off and on automatically.

It turns on-off with motion, but you also can press the button to turn it off when not in use, which is what I'd recommend.

Press and hold the button for 3-5 seconds to turn it off.

I did not know about holding the button to get it to shut off. So the button works, but no motion still leaves it on. Good enough for the season coming up in a couple weeks. I doubt I want to mount it and sight it in now, because I would be taking it off for repair after the season. It will probably sit out the season.

I think it's supposed to go off when motionless for 5 minutes but the slightest movement will turn it back on.

I just hold the button down for 5 seconds and it turns off but I only use the illumination at dawn and dusk.

One other thing, I changed the battery just because and it wouldn't come on until I shot it. Called Leupold and the tech said the threads are very fine and it might be cross threaded. I unscrewed the cap and the threads looked fine, put it back on and haven't had a problem since.

That's why I like the solid reticle, electronics can be finicky sometimes.
