Hello there i am wondering what is the max size scope you can mount on a Sako 85 with the Ringmounts hardware. I know they mention 48-56mm but has anyone ever mounted a 50mm without issue?

Thanks!

I thought Ring Mounts only come in LOW height. The 1 piece scope mounts.

The picture in the first post is not a Ringmount. It is a 2 piece Optilock. In the 2 piece a 50mm will fit in the low mount.

The ringmount by Optilock only comes in low and will not accommodate a 50mm on any of my rifles.

Leupold and Millett also make one piece ringmounts for the Sako.

Actually the definition of a ringmount is a one piece mount.

The picture i posted actually show both of Sako mounts, top is Ring Mount and bottom is 2Pieces Optilock.

Look at the manufacturers dimensions and you can draw it from there. Swarovski 4-12x50 has a 56mm dimension. I doubt very many 50mm's are that sleek. It fits very tight in xtralow optilock rings, factory eyecups do not fit the front objective. My Schmidt and bender 2-10x56 would fit in xtra-low 30mm optilocks(2piece) . I have it in Lows, might change it out later on.

So I see. There is only a picture of the two piece Optilocks. The ringmount dimensions are mentioned in print.

I couldn't mount a 50mm with the Ringmounts, nor could I mount a 40mm Leupold 4-12 VX2 with AO. The AO ring made the objective large enough that it wouldn't fit on my Sako rifles.

The 2 piece low Optilock will work with a 50mm easily. I don't know if it will work with anything larger as I don't own any scopes larger than 50mm.

A Leupold vx-6 50mm objective would be 58.42 which would require medium ring mounts but would fit in x-tra low 2 piece optilocks.

You have to spend more but mounting options are way better with Euro scopes.

Get some Talley two piece. Best out there for Sako's in my opinion.
