Second week of deer camp for the Minnesota boys. Is Chickenbuck still up and running this week? Good luck to Dave and his cast of characters if they are.

Mama and I had a good hunt this morning on day 2 of our rifle season. saw 2 bull elk, 2 coyotes several mule deer and probably 80 whitetails! one group of about 25 got bumped by some other hunters and came through the draw we were guarding. we had to shift position a little but eventually one decent buck stopped and mama whacked him at 300 yards with my .308 suppressed. she was a happy camper! little over a mile drag, but hey it was worth it! now I have to go find one!

Nice!
A mile drag? Was there any coat left? Can't you 1/4 them in SD?

Nice buck Mrs. Ryan Xbow finally struck one this am . Hunting here has been super tough . Huge acorn crop and crazy warm temps have made for almost no deer movement but the rut is kicking in.

there was actually, it was just grass. I called for a game cart so I removed nuts when I gutted. state law says proof of sex attached, so when the game cart couldn't be found, I was out of options.

I should have followed Gophers example and shot my rifles early this year . Instead I wait till the week before gun season to learn that my Ruger 77 7x57 with a old Leopold scope is shooting a nice "pattern" ...for a shot gun. Will shot again this week hopefully its just my oldness .

Did you gut him in the ditch or right in the road?

Sunday at sunset was the close of our deer season. As I drove to work Monday morning, I thought back to almost every other Monday after close of deer season where I see a nice buck or two on does right next to the road.
Well it never fails. I came around a bend in the road and there was a beautiful 150 + class buck and a large doe just standing there in a pasture 40 yards off the road.
They didn't have a care in the world and when I slowed way down to get a good peek, they didn't even bother to look my direction.
I think they were in loooooove...

I saw a doe this morning in Murphy-Hanrehan park that could have passed for a brown Guernsey .
