I know this has probably been discussed before but I am curious what folks think is the best battery now days for a pickup with a 5.7 liter engine. The original one is still in the truck but shows signs of getting weaker after nine plus years. So, what have others had good luck with? Many thanks in advance.

I use Optima batteries in mine - expensive, but I believe worth it (especially if you jump-start cars or equipment regularly)

Get the biggest one you can get. I think there were 3 main choices for my V8 Toyota. My buddy mechanic got me a NAPA battery that was physically a lot bigger with more CCA. So far after a year is is stellar. I spent a bunch on some magic battery from Sears for my Corvette. It puked in 3 years and they charged me a bunch to replace it, I think it was something like 7 year no fault, but I had to pay anyway. That was the last time I stepped in sears. Sears is now boycotted in my house.

We've had no problems with Interstate and AC Delco batteries. NAPA we have had 4 that didn't make it through the warranty period.

I had Ford brand batteries from the dealer for forever in my Powerstroke. I know as of last year if you buy a battery from them it has a 7 year warranty. I don't think any other battery brand has even close to that. They sell any series I believe. Prices were in line with other brands.

I buy the most powerful one that Wal Mart sells. I have never had one go bad but if that ever happens, a WM store will probably be close by.

I use NAPA batteries mostly and have had very good luck with them. The last one gave me 15 good years. I only put acid in them to top off, never water... it makes a difference.

I've got a pair of Optimas that are at least ten years old. I usually get Interstates at CostCo, but those EverStart Max at Wally World are made by Johnson Controls are are highly rated. I've bought two one in each of the boy's rigs and they've been trouble free.

I don't think that there is but 3 battery manufacturers left, so almost any brand is going to be one them. When I was fleet manager I bought a bunch of all brands and types. Nothing really stood out, but let me give a word of caution. High CCA batteries tend to give more problems because the plates are thinner so they can pack more plates in the case. If you get one of those hot the plates will warp easily and short the battery out. Doing things like winching, or jump starting industral engines, will get them hot fast. A good mid-range CCA will do just about everything with little problem.

I would try damn hard to get an exact replacement. 9+ yrs is a damn good battery.

I like batteries made by East Penn. These include O'Reily, NAPA, Deka, and Duracell sold at Sams and Batteries Plus. These are USA made batteries and what I will be putting in my 5.7 Tundra. Mine is 5 years old and will be replaced in the next month.

I had the original battery in my 2000 ram until 2013 and the nascar extreme that replaced the original already needs to be replaced.
