Thought someone might have a different opinion. There are more than a few great balancing Savage lever guns ya know.

Sorry man, I don't get the whole being-funny-not-in-person thing.

I like all 99s but the F seems a little unbalanced to me. However, if I was on a mountain big game hunt, that would be the first rifle that I would grab. I have a 99F in 358 that someday will go into the timber one day for elk. I will slap a 4x scope on it. Yup, that sounds pretty darn good.

The 99F is my favorite to carry. I use Leupold 6x on all of mine. If all I had were Fs, it would be just fine.

Lots of 99s are great to carry, but the F is it for me. Toss in an EG once in awhile and I'm good to go.

As far as 99s go for carry comfort, a pre-60s F was a favorite. That was until I had a 61 E rebored to .358 and rewooded it with a 'F' butt stock and an EG fore arm.

The weight of the E now is within 1oz of the F but the 20" barrel of the 'E' makes it feel lighter, presumably because the balance point is more centered between the hands.
