Not sure how far you are going to take shots, but an 8 twist 243 or 243 AI will bring home A LOT of Antelope steaks........
I like to K.I.S.S. and light recoil, flat accurate shooting with modest blast makes great sense. The above will reach FAR for those smallish animals. Nothing wrong with the other fine choices above, but killing power is aplenty in a 243. Think 105 Amax and Bergers on longish shots for trajectory, retained speed, and expansion. They will DRT.
If you want something different, I would lean hard on a 6 XC or x47 Lapua, again 8 twist. A 2B contour at 24-25" would be portable, balance/steady well, get plenty powder burn, and keep the blast further from your ears. I normally like shorter barrels but in this application, and if you shoot far, the longer tube might be a tad better. IIRC, the 6 Creedmoor is a semi-legit round now, and would be almost as good......
Good luck.

Your 6-284 will take speed goats pretty damn far out. I burned out a 6mm-06 barrel or 2 in my day. The 6.5 version is great, but not sure you will see any advantage unless you just want a different or mo betta platform........

8 twist .220 Swift AI
Disclaimer: I have never shot an antelope and probably never will. I don't have a .220 Swift AI but may if I ever get around to it.

Yep, only we can decide when it comes to selecting personal calipers.

Yep, only we can decide when it comes to selecting personal calipers. Sometimes your calipers get warped and don`t shoot straight.Happened on my 243 Chevy.

Trying to decide between a 26 Nosler or a 6.5-300 Weatherby. Availability of factory ammo is not a concern since I reload. Barrel life is also not a concern since this is a hunting rifle and not a target rifle. Is there any advantage of one over the other? Don't forget the good ole .264 Win Mag. I have one in a Browning AB2 Medallion that's super accurate and it easily took care of my two 'speed goats' this fall. It's amazing what a 120gr Nos AB at over 3,300 fps will do out on the prairie! But there's no accounting for what a rifle looney will decide. Heck, I'm thinking about selling my 1/2moa 264WM Browning A-Bolt and trying someone else! To misuse an old gunsmith's saying, "Life's too short to hunt with only one rifle"...LOL

260 and 243 all good calipers. I saw that Wy is allowing 22 center fire for goats. Lots of goats out by Baggs I already have and use .260 and .243 as I mentioned before , but if I was starting fresh a .22-250 with a 70 gr berger or similar bullet would take care of my deer and goat needs just nicely. If you are just looking to build a new rifle then go forth and do so. It is still 'Murica and it looks like components will continue to get easier to find. Besides there is always Hodgdon U.S. 869 on the shelves, around here anyways.......

Don't forget the good ole .264 Win Mag. Was waiting for that caliper to come up. When I was a kid and that was some time ago I had an uncle who was a gunsmith in Cheyenne that built himself a .264 specifically for antelope. With his heart problems he had to shoot from near the truck and send his kids on retrieve so it certainly works at a distance. I suppose I have a soft spot in my head for that one.

I've killed them with .240 Wby and 6.5-284, no complaints.
I have a 26 Nosler, not sure I pick it over those two, although it would do the job.
A lot depends on the individual rifle and how well you can shoot it.

I don't understand this manina for magnums on something as fragile as antelope. It's a rare event that I can't get to within 300 yards of a lope, and often much closer. Farthest I've killed a buck was 548 yards... even then, not something a magnum is needed for.
Guess I look at hunting differently...

Ask Ringman about his 6.5 Ultra Mag.
