I've really been eying the VX6 for an upgrade (someday ) to my VX3 3.5-10. Of course my VX3 has fixed parallax as well, but is that a deal breaker for a 12 power scope? I'm struggling a bit with that.
I know the 3-18 does have the side focus, but I'm trying to stay true to being a 600 yard big game hunting rifle. Not wanting to fall off the cliff of trying to be a 1k target style rig.
It's a 280ai btw.

I would think a guy can certainly shoot a 12x effectively to 600 w/o adjustable parallax. It's just a little harder; you have to really be sure you are centered behind the scope. The first rifle I shot extensively to 600 had 10x and no adjustable parallax and as long as I did my part it was deadly to my steel plates.
In that price range the 3-10 NF SHV has side parallax, very nice glass, tracks great... short mounting length for a .280, maybe. For a few bucks more the 3-12 LRHS has adjustable parallax.
The CENTER will hold.

One of my 280AIs is currently topped with a VX-6, 2-12; the other sports a Swaro Z3 4-12. Neither have parallax adjustment. Have yet to have an issue with parallax in either.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

I have shot my VX-6 2-12 out to 885 yards on my .300 Weatherby with no issues whatsoever.
