Last night it was a simple preparation of chicken leg quarters.

Dusted all over with Cajun Corner Real Cajun Deal seasoning. Slow roasted in a Big Green Egg, glazed with Pig Stand BBQ sauce.

Deer backstrap, cut 2 fingers thick, placed in ziplock bag & pounded to 1/2 inch, with any empty wine bottle I just happened to have at hand, simply seasoned with salt & course cracked pepper.

Into smoking hot cast iron skillet, for about a minute a side.

Remove & rest while finishing sides of sautéed onions & cremini mushrooms, mashed potato with parmesan cheese & tender green peas.

Simple & delicious.

Last night was a nice ribeye with salt & pepper pan-fried in a screeching hot CI skillet with Trader Joe's pad thai noodles with onion, bell pepper, and green peas added, along with a nice salad on the side.

Heavenly.

Left overs will be steak tacos.

Venison loin straps, butterflied. Garlic and lime, seared in bacon fat. Spaghetti squash with bacon cream sauce, and a glass of merlot.

Just used the loin and squash in a scramble. Some shredded cheddar jack and fresh tomato slices from the farmers market.

Stuffed!

Broiled Chesapeake blue lump crab cakes, red potatoes and yep you guessed it.....MORE slaw!! Maybe a little cornbread!!

All this cabbage and slaw is decreasing my elevated blood pressure. I'm convinced of it.

Crab cakes sound GOOOOD.

Just about ready to pull the Chicken pot pie out of the oven. In the 20's tonight, seemed like a good food for that.

Elk vegetable soup tonight. My wife's family tradition is to serve the beef same with a cutting board of sharp cheddar cheese, bread and butter pickles and saltines. I throw fresh Asiago on mine. It was more than good.
