How far removed can today's country music can be from real country? I never listen to this so call garbage while driving. I was flipping through channels,on the TV, came across CMT. They were doing their damndest to be a rap group.

I recently read something where George Strait has basically been shunned from country radio, he's not "today's" country.

A lost cause.

It's different for sure. Music changes, always has. I like the red dirt stuff. I saw Jason Boland Nov 11. Going to see the Bellamy Bros tomorrow nite. My first time to go dancing since I broke my ankle in June. We see how that goes.

Yes every time I hear this crap, I think of the song that Alen Jackson and Groove Strait put out several years ago, " Murder on Music Row"! Even years ago when George Jones did " Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes", I could see then, that we were losing true Country Music! memtb

I remember my Dad saying the same thing about those "hippie dopeheads" like Waylon Jennings and George Jones 40 years ago. If it was any wilder than Floyd Cramer or Chet Atkins it was trash.

All music changes in time (just like everything else changes). This change is no different whether it is hard rock, metal, classic rock, soul, R&B, Adult Contemporary or even classical musical for that matter.

We're fortunate to have a great Classic Country station here in the stix....
They even have call in classified hour every morning if ya want to buy or sell stuff and on Fridays they have different entertainers from the PNW drop in and play a few songs in the studio....good ol down home acoustic guitars and real harmonizing....

Only problem is it's AM so reception's sketchy during bad weather but it's free so I don't complain...

I have to listen to AM radio in my tractor.

Talk radio with Rush and Sean Hannity.

I have a decent stereo in there, I just can't listen to music while working on the tractor. It drowns out the sounds I hope I don't hear... shocked

AM sux down here too. Static if I drive too close to a powerline. BAD static if it's storming anywhere within a 150 mile radius.

You can stream some stations over the net. I listen to Country Legends 106.9 out of Topeka streamed live and there is another Classic station I listen to once I get towards my hunting ground close to Lebanon Mo. but I cannot recall the station numbers.

We used to listen to another classic station on our annual fishing trip at Cass Lake in MN.

I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if they threw in a little variety now and then. But I can drive from VA Beach to Martinsville and hear the same songs 5 times on 6 different stations.
