If you mean VX2 it would be a good choice. I've had a 2-7 VX2 on a 7 mag for a long time, so long it's really a varix. Most folks think they need way more magnification that what is actually needed. Big game hunters hunted the world around for years with fixed 4X scopes without even knowing they were dreadfully under powered until this century. That 2-7 will allow you to keep the good balance and weight of your rifle.

I like 2-7's. Haven't tried the Leupold, but I have used them in other sizes. I'd buy one.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

It works for me on the 7 mag because of the long eye relief at 2X. You may have to crawl the stock a little bit at 7X but you have plenty of time for that if you have time to adjust the power for a longer shot.

Watch the maintube length on the scope you do choose. .270 is a long action and the mounts and ring spacing you want to use are important considerations. I'd simply go with a good 3x9 or 3.5x10 since many 2x7's are often pretty compact in length.

Get the 2-7x33 instead. Eupold makes a reversible front mount that should allow mounting on a long action easily.

I didn't need a modified mount on my Model 70 7mm Rem mag. The 2-7x33 had enough eye relief and such a non critical eye box that it was fine without any adjustment left. FYI I usually mount scopes farther back toward the rifle butt than a lot of folks.
