I know, you're one of those bad ass guys that carries his next round in his teeth. Oh, wait a minute, you don't need a second shot.

I'm sorry, I could have sworn Vic wrote he used a .308
Since when is this even remotely acceptable? Did I say .308? I meant to say Six point Eight plus point zero three one.

Yea, it packs a punch. I bought that gun about 10 or so years ago. I was in the market for a muzzle loader and was in the local gun shop for something else and it was in the rack screaming at me........Buy me!!! Walnut and stainless. The slug barrel is blued.

I have, for some time, been pushing for a category whereas the least amount of difference between the weight of the bullet and the weight of the deer is a consideration.

I never thought about it till stonecutter posted the pick of his deers junk. What's the tie breaker on the best dink. My buddy shot an antlered deer a couple years ago with no junk. An antlered doe. So, does a doe dink, trump a dink with junk? Joe.

The old guy in the lead got it first. Good heart shot and he pumped blood like he had an unlimited supply. That blood all over the belly is from the pumpage. I knew it was a good shot, so I immediately focused on Junior. Apparently, he was a sucker for a bleat, because that stopped him in his tracks. My .308 dropped him in his tracks. I shot him from behind in the center of the back, so he dropped instantly. I hadn't seen where the other one went, but he wasn't hard to find....He's the white spot in the center-top of the pic. I am probably losing credibility as a dink-shooter, but I'm rooting for Jwalls' grandson anyway. First off Vic: Congrats & Way to go on the "Double UP" ! ! ! I've done that but it's been a while. Now that I hunt mostly alone, I'm not interested in recovering & cleaning 2 at a time. I really like that BLOOD TRAIL. I've seen BTs similar and 1 of them Ray Charles could have followed by feel. I shot it low in the ribs with a 12 GAUGE SLUG.>>lotsablood!! Thank you very much for considering my Grandson but honestly the "Clete" buck beat him out. <I know Cleat is spelled C L E A T-- but Clete is more personal. Jerry

Thank you, Jerry.
Had I been alone, only one would have been taken.
On this particular partial of land, we can drive the into the fields to recover deer, but some land that we hunt, you can't.
That is given consideration. Then it's Deer Carts R Us.

Has anyone bribed their way to Dink Master status yet? Vic, no mutants this year?

Ok, we're in. There's a lot going on in this picture, not that I think anything would escape the Poobah but for the rest of the folks, a couple points to consider: 1.Clearly dinks. Two of them, for an ultimate feat. Especially the one on the left. 2. We're not children. Any deer is a trophy to a kid. When I was twelve, I dreamt of the glory of bagging a spike for honor and for food. Killing deer puts hair on your ass, as everyone knows. Now in our 30's, our asses are as hairy as these deer but did that stop us? Clearly it did not. There was good Bourbon at stake and that's serious business. 3. We looked at that little bastard on the left for a solid 5 minutes, and at a staggering distance of 114 yards, with Leica 10-42's before we were sure enough to kill it that it was in fact a spike. I argued with my brother who was saying "I think it's a spike, hard to tell if it's antlers or grass behind it's head." "It's clearly a fawn" I replied back. "Gimme them binos. Damn, those look like spikes. But it might be grass." 4. Trophy pics. Everyone knows trophy pics like this makes the deer look twice as big as it actually is. Let that sink in. We posed like heroes because that's what we are, but at the price of our dinks looking like run-of-the-mill dinks instead of the paltry dinks that they truly are. 5. These are Coues whitetail. They are a miniature deer. Their ears probably measure 5 inches. See point #4. 6. Notice the mutton chops. That guy can drink whiskey without ice or water. Nothing wasted on these winners.
