My buddy wanted me to pick up some full body goose decoys 6-12. Is full body decoys really needed or would shells accomplish the same thing? Price is a consideration, so before I take the plunge I wanted to get some input if full body decoys are really needed?

best answer...both
we use shells and full bodies. in real life when you see geese on their bellies that means they feel safe and comfortable enough to relax
we mix shells and standing full body feeders at the head of the spread. later when it gets cold we add a few dozen sleeper shells.
also when doing watwr set ups. nothing says safe to a goose like seeing resting birds on shore
