I would like to know if it is possible to put/get a pistol grip stock on a Model 95 Cowboy. Love the rifle but would prefer a PG stock, and a nice checkered fore end like on the Classic. Could I change the parts over from the Classic to the Cowboy to get what I would like??? Or would it be easier to get a 26" Octogon barrel for the classic?

You'd of course have to get a new lever. Would the tang of the receiver have to be bent too? Without going to the safe and digging out my straight grip 95' and curve gripped 336, I'm thinking it would.

I was actually going to get both rifles, make what I would like, and sell the leftover as a long barrelled guide gun, which it would be. Unless there is an easier way???

You will have to get a Pistol Grip Butt Stock, Trigger Guard Plate for the Marlin 1895SS or current 1895, and Curved Lever.

(1) Remove the straight butt stock by removing the 2 tang screws and pulling stock straight back. (Do not move stock up and down, straight back only).
(2) Remove the Squared Lever by opening and removing the one lever screw like you would if you were going to clean the gun.
(3) Remove the 3 screws that hold the straight Trigger Guard Plate in the receiver and remove the plate.
(4) Move the parts from the straight trigger guard plate over to the pistol grip trigger guard plate and reinstall in the receiver.

Be sure to hold the trigger to the rear to clear the hammer when reinstalling the trigger guard plate back in the receiver.

Do this process with the gun upside down or to it's side so the locking bolt will not fall out of the receiver. (If it does no problem, just drop it back into position) before reassembly.

(5) Install new pistol grip butt stock.

Check http://www.e-gunparts.com/model.asp?idDept=158 for parts or get them from Marlin.

You may have to remove some wood to get the 1895 fore end to fit as the octagon barrel might be a bit bigger than the standard 22" barrel.

Thanks, jackfish. I'll price out the parts and see what I come up with. Does Marlin sell parts directly???

You will have a hard time finding someone that sells the trigger plate. I was lucky enough to find someone that wanted to swap stocks, levers and entire trigger group w/plate.

That's great !!! Are these the only parts I would need? I do not, never have, owned or worked on a Marlin, hence all the questions. Thanks for the help jackfish!

I think the Finger Lever Screw, Finger Lever Plunger and Finger Lever Plunger Pin should work from your current lever. So, that should do it.
