What is your approach to standing dead trees?

Like many others, not a lot of good burning trees around here. Have a dead-standing maple tree. Part of it finally blew over a few weeks ago. Started cutting some of it up. Planning on getting after it later this week and maybe get some of it split. Will try to burn a little as an experiment.
