Couple of months ago ran across a deal on a 70s vintage Savage-Anschutz 54 Sporter that had a Lyman 15X Super Targetspot scope in custom mounts...unfortunately the scope had some problems and the past owner no longer needing the front sight had taken it off... The original front sight for this model is a one-of-a-kind and search as I might there were none available...in this case leaving a very ugly recess near the muzzle. So rather than leaving it ugly decided to have the barrel shortened to 20" and threaded for a suppressor as that seems to be the coming thing...and really who shoots one of these fine rifles with open sights anyway... Just got it back from the smith yesterday and this morning mounted a 70s vintage Weaver K12 that has the 6 moa dual crosshair reticle. Hopefully this week I'll get to try it out... Has a few dings and handling marks but over all very nice condition... Bob

I've had two of these and both were so nice I didn't want to shoot them... This one is a little more "used" so I won't feel bad if it gets a few more hunting dings in it...

Nice gun, I like the wood and agree with your option. That combo will be very useful and a lot of fun.

Very cool! I have basically the same rifle, but with an intact front sight. It's a great shooter and the M54 action spoiled me on other bolt action rimfires.

Nice. Is the safety on the left side of the receiver? I have a 184 and that safety drives me a little nuts.
