http://www.ruger.com/products/americanRimfireTarget/models.html A buddy bought a Predator in .22 LR today, and when I went to look for more info on it, I stumbled across THIS thing. Looks like a Predator in a Boyd stock, which is probably exactly what it is.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

I just discovered it on their web site yesterday. Been thinking about another 22LR bolt gun of decent quality as a retirement toy plinker and squirrel gun. Was looking at a CZ 455 but the LGS says the wait time on 'em is getting real long and the one I've had a deposit on since July has been discontinued. Then I saw the RAR target model.. Anyone know anything about them? Looks real interesting. How long have they been out?

Those are GREAT looking rifles!
I have a Ruger American Predator HB in 22 mag. that I bought through Shot Action Smoker, and LOVE it!
But...Sure do like the looks of this lam stock model!

Ack..just to be clear I have no experience with these target models.. I do shoot American predators in 22, 22 mag, and 17hmr and am very happy with them.

I read else where these target models had a heavier barrel than the predator. Call it unconfirmed speculation. If true, it cannot be much heavier barrel given the weight of laminate and the spec for this model.
I would be more impressed if Ruger at least made some claims for extra attention to the rifling and chamber. The word "Target" means what exactly?
I have a ruger American in 22 mag and it is great little hunting rim fire. I dont know what the extra weight buys you in a 22mag. The threaded barrel might make a fashion statement, but; what has that to do with a match grade 22LR? It seems an odd combination of features and naming.

The extra weight would be a plus for target shooting and on the bench; not so much for a lot of hunting, except maybe p-dogging.
I simply prefer the looks, and wouldn't mind the extra weight.

Cert...understood that's why I said "generally" I had been looking at a CZ455 which I really liked till I seen this new Ruger, I kind of like the shorter bolt throw, Tang saftey and rotary magazine of the Ruger over the 455's features I'll just have to go handle one to see for sure!

I have 4 American Rimfires . 18"22" 22Lr, 18" 22WMR ,22" 17HMR.
The 18" Blue is in a birch stock, others are plastic. Fit and finish on the metal is above grade . They all shot great . Boyds replacement stocks are thick and cumbersome. This Ruger will probably won't be any heavier with a heavier contour barrel and this version on the laminate stock.
Looking forward to it.

If they don't have one in the classifieds put the word out in the CZ forum and those guys will help you find one. Old world craftsmanship, you won't be sorry.
