Just curious, what 8mm Wildcats are out there for a Mauser 98??? I'm aware, of course, of the 8mm/06 and 8mm/06ai. I reload for an 8mm Gibbs and have seen drawings for the 3200 Hawk. Which ones am I missing?

323 Hollis I have one but been a long time since I shot it just sits in gun cabinet now
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Which ones am I missing? Long time ago, I put a couple dummy rounds together for the 8mm BR. A little short for the mauser action though.... Not wildcats but I have always been interested in the 8x60S and 8x68S - classic Mauser cartridges, IMO.
Finally did something about the 8x68S itch and have that build underway. Metal work is done and it is off to Robar and then McMillan.
Read where a guy in Spain necked the 9.3 Brenneke down to 8mm (8x64 Mazon). I have to believe that is a potent cartridge.
I'm becoming more tolerant of intolerant people.

I am the guy in Spain. Capacity of my 8mm MAZON is almost identical to any of the 2.5" magnum cases, like 7RM, 308Norma or 338WM. The idea was to have magnum performance in a rimless case without a belt that woud be a good fit in M98 actions without modifications, and to be original. And all this, the 8mm MAZON is. Alvaro Mazon

8mm/308 Norma Magnum. Fits in the standard 98 magazine length. The 308 Norma Magnum was designed to rechamber 30-06 riles without setting back the barrel or lengthening the magazine. Norma made cases and ammo available before they ever chambered a rifle in it. 8mm/284 But, it won't do anything an 8mm/06 won't do. 284 brass is harder to come by and may require mag rail alterations to feed right.

I have not had the loads pressure tested by a balistic lab.
I developed the loads with the help of a chronograph and using QL as a guide.
After years of use in two rifles built using K98 actions, a 1909 Argentino and an FN Commercial built for Husvarna, I never had any incident or misshap with any of the loads. By coincidence, I have just ordered a second batch of custom head stamped Horneber brass, after the initial one has been almost exhausted.

I thought hard about a 8mm-338 WM before the 325 WSM came out, still think it would be a neat round.

I've considered an 8x62, but I think it would be pretty much the same as a 3200 Hawk.

I shoot several different 8mm Wildcats. Both the 8x57 AI and 8-06 AI and a 8x62 Durham mag and a 8-300 Win Mag. Love them all. I had Some reamers made this past year for a round I named the IMM (Intermediate Mauser Magnum) which is based off a shortened RUM case. I cut it down to 2.28" to maximize capacity in the short mausers and am building a set from 25 cal up thru 416 and yep, the 8mm will be the first one chambered. Looking forward to getting them done. Case capacity will be a bit more than the 300 Win Mag case. Will keep you posted on its development.

Almost done with an 8mm Hetzenauer build. (8x68 Improved).
I will be selling the chamber reamer and FL die reamer when I get it done.
8 Mazon sounds fun.

My son is in the process of converting his .325, built on a 700 LA,to an 8x33 Nosler. Reamer built by PT&G will clean up .325 chamber. If you go to PT&G,new products, you will see it. Should be interesting. Oh,....just because.

Any deer that I have ever killed with my 8x57, has thought it was dispatched by a wildcat! I like that, especially if you load it to CIP pressure standards. My 8x57 is the first one out of the safe when I head to the woods. CowboyTim

Good evening 300stw, are you changing anything with the Steyr, shoulder angle etc? Where did you get your reamer? Have been considering doing the same for use in a intermediate length 98 that I have. PM me or drop me an email as I'm not on here much. (archeratlrg aim.com) Thanks for your response. How does it shoot the 220's?

I have had the pleasure of hunting with Alvaro Mazon. He is a true sportsman . The 8mm Mazon is a great cartridge - perfect for monteria etc.

You should check on some of the 8mm oddities conjured up by Charles Askin from 8mmx350 to 8mmx378 Weatherby and I think 416 Jeffrey too. Mostly he found out the bullets available then were not up to the task. Seems the 8mm niche is pretty well covered already.
