There once was a man with a hen
who laid soft shelled eggs now and then
The hen doctor said,"She soon will be dead
if powdered charcoal she's not fed"
So the man went and bought some black powder
which he then mixed into her chowder
He didn't look close when he dealt out the dose
For what he gave her was really gunpowder.
Everything was going along swell
Which goes to show you never can tell.
For one day she laid
a small hand grenade
