I purchased this "Boy's Model" single shot break open shotgun for my wife (then girlfriend) new in 1963 as a Christmas present. She shot it a few times but it didn't really fit her. My son used it for a while growing up before going on to a Model 12 20 gauge. Being 75 and having no grandkids to pass it on to I'm thinking of selling it. It is in very good/excellent condition.

The "Boy's Model" was a scaled down Model 37 with a modified choke and factory recoil pad. And, I believe, only in 20 Ga.

I've looked on Gun Broker and Auction Arms and can't find any info on its value. Would anyone here have suggestions where I can look for info? Local gun stores in SLC have been a bust too.

SakoL461: I wish I could help you out on a value to that rare little shotgun but I can't - I don't believe I have ever seen that model in fact.
I did buy a mint condition ("few shots then put away for 50+ years") Model 37 in 16 gauge last year and I felt good getting it for $250.00 (IIRC) from a very small gunshow here in Montana.
I will do some searching for you myself and see if I can find a reference.
I have seen Model 37's in 410 (and in great condition) sell (I mean actually sell not just asking prices!) for big bucks.
But those are not your possibly even rarer "Boys Gun".

value is always a function of perceived condition, 95% to one is not the same to another.

That being said, $250 would be a lower end value....the range being 250 to 500(98%) with more for 'in the box'.

Most average use, 90%+ 37s are in the 300's range. The youth shotgun is always worth a premium, esp. in very pristine condition. recent auction results confirm this range.

as always, one opinion. I'm sure there are others out there.

I also have one of these in the box(37 A). Has an improved modified choke?? Hoping the picture gets posted later. Has a big red Winchester recoil pad.

SakoL461: I am not finding much myself on info about your nifty shotgun.
I even called my friend out in Puget Sound country who just loves to buy and sell these guns.
He, I am sure, has bought and sold MANY dozens of these Model 37's over the last 50 years that I have known and traded guns with him.
I hope BLR358WIN's pictures will get posted.

Just found one on Gun Broker for $499.00 that is in lesser condition than mine. I would like to try and sell it locally (SLC) so may list on Utah Gun Exchange.

I just reread barrel. It says improved modified choke?? Its 26 inches long. And that red recoil pad does say Winchester.

The 37a pictured is not a pre 64 as the O.P. is referring to and was probably made in the early to mid 70's,in Canada I believe.

From the material I have it was introduced in 1958 and the 37 was produced through 63? Book says it was worth 25% more than the standard 20 gauge

I'd bet with the box,assuming good condition on both it and the gun you'd be looking at 350-450 on auction for the 37A.
