Should be a very well made accurate shooting revolver. Well made by craftsman that knew a thing or two.

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

If in excellent condition and you can buy it at $1200-1300, don't hesitate!

There's a 629-4 on here for sale. The -4 is IMHO much more desireable as it has the full endurance package and case hardened (non-MIM) triggerband hammer. Check the classifieds ASAP if you're in the market. This one is priced very well and ANIB.

Huh?

Per SCoS&W: M29-1 made in 1962 only, mostly with 3 screw frame but at least one 4 screw is known. Value ranges from Poor @ $450 to ANIB @ 3750, 5" barrel brings 3-5 times standard value, nickel brings 2-3 times standard value.
Should have an S prefix s/n and would have been shipped with "cokes".

I carried a 629-1 in Alaska during my Bush Pilot Days.
The gun is very well made and reliable.

Sometimes it did feel a little small though.

Nice! Original combat grips! Now you need a 624!

Mine is a dash 2. Six inch barrel, un-fluted cylinder, Pachmayr grips.

Got it NIB back around '91 or '92, but it came from a gun shop auction, so was probably a few years old by then? Forget now which year or years that variation was made, but I've only ever seen one other one like it.

It's a keeper, mighty nice SA trigger pull. The year I got it, another shooter had a new Anaconda at our range and proclaimed it to have the best SA trigger on the market. So we let several others shoot both pistols.

Consensus was, that the S&W M629 had the smoother SA trigger pull.
