Dear experts, I've been looking for a 99R in 300 savage and came across this particular one. Everything looks good, great pics, and good description, but I have one question. Is the internal rotor supposed to be case colored like the lever? I thought they were supposed to be brass. If you could, please let me know what you think. Thanks. gunbroker Senator1979

I think at different times you may also run into alumininum or steel rotors.

My R is about the same age and it also has the case colored carrier. Don't let the case color throw you off. Its right for the era. Got a couple case colored spares in the parts stash too.

I just got a EG with a steel rotor. Thought it might be aluminum, but I stuck a magnet on it and it stayed. So i've got two with CC rotors, one steel, and a bunch brass. Guess I'll look for one with the alumimun rotor.

Here are some photos of rotors made from different materials .... I don't have a picture of my steel one , and I'm not in the mood to take it out tonight ..... Maybe someone else here has a photo of a plain steel rotor they will post . color case hardened rotor ( steel ) : brass rotor : aluminum rotor :
