We just started attending a different church, and haven't forged relationships with the ministers yet. I've met two of them so far, one man and one woman. They both seem nice so far.

We are Methodists, so we get a new preacher about every four to six years. Our last four preachers hav been outstanding! We really are a fortunate congregation. Our current preacher really fits our congregation well. He is a country boy, and one of the best deer hunters that I know. We are growing under his leadership, which is rare for a church these days. He really pushes us to serve others, which is what we are called to do.

True confessions...I am a pastor. Have been for 20 yrs. I worked for almost 30 yrs. in the oilfield; the last 12 of those years I also pastored. The church I am at now is my 2nd church and have been here for 13 yrs. next month. Our church drew the short end of the stick.

How do you keep a preacher that long without problems and splitting up and making new churches? Guess the problem with the ones around the preacher keeps asking for raises and it splits the people, So a lot with friends on both sides just quit going i.e. me-us

Dad preached for 38 yrs, 27 of 'em here. He still fills in for absent pastors. Never received a salary but we did have a house & utilities provided.
I tried counseling him, he just wouldn't consider TV church where the big money abounded. He was of the mindset Jesus wouldn't wear a Rolex on his television show.

Calvary Chapel here. Our minister is excellent. He researches the word better than any minister I've seen in the past and he's not afraid to say he's wrong. This winter he gave a sermon from Hebrews. A week later, he stood up and apologized for it. He said that as he progressed through Hebrews and studied from the Greek, he'd learned some things in the past week. They then gave a sermon refuting what he'd preached the week before.

I know a pastor of a small but growing church that gets payed about 15K per yr. He drives an ambulance part time. The associate pastor gets payed nest to nothing, maybe a few hundred bucks if he does a message. I know of a pastor with about 150 that meet in a hotel conference room. I doubt he gets payed much more than 10k a year. Our pastor gets played well but am not sure how much. He is a very good pastor that does not ask anyone to do something he would not do. Sometimes I catch him picking up junk in the lawn and parking lot. It is a church of about 600 each week.
But the fruits of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Galations 5: 22&23

I heard of one on here one time that got an air hose applied to him.
it was a good story
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

My wife, daughter and her husband are members of a Covenant church. Our pastors all strongly support our team that is responsible for security.
All of us on the team are vetted members that carry and have medical, EMS, law enforcement, or military training. We have members of the team scheduled to serve during all services and large gatherings at the church. We have regular monthly meetings, including range time, situational awareness and medical training.
I have yet to meet a member who is not a very solid conservative. We switched to from Missouri Synod Lutheran due to the emphasis on service and missions in the Covenant Church.

It became apparent to me a while back that my wife was sleeping with our church's pastor. She vehemently defends that it is alright to do so, though, since she is married to him.

So how much do some of your small churches pay the preacher?? In Mississippi rural bi-vocational churches the annual salary can be anywhere from practically nothing to $30K per year. I make about $20K. I feel I am overpaid and the church feels I am way underpaid. Best church I've ever served.
