I have a Hogue FF tube that when installed on the barrelled upper, will not index to allow the gas tube to pass freely through the upper. Any ideas? All I can think of is to add a washer of some sort between the barrel and nut, if there is such a thing.

Wheeler Engineering sells a fixture that lets you lap the end of the upper, so that the nut will index. I haven't personally used mine yet, but a number of places sell them.

Ar15barrels.com sells a shim kit or if it's close just drill the hole in the nut out bigger for the tube to pass through.

Torque the barrel nut on and off a few times, this will often get you enough to make the next index hole.

If that doesn't get it, the shim kit is easy to use.

As TWR mentions, drilling out or dremeling off the "nub" that is in the way has worked for me to get proper toque and proper gas tumble float.

I picked up one of these from brownell's but haven't used it, my main thought was just using it to make sure the receiver face is square.

Works fine; don't use too much pressure & only takes a few seconds, depending of course, on how out of square your receiver face might be.

I don't see anything for sale on that site other than services. Do You have a link?
