I have a mid-90's M700 BDL (Stainless) in like new condition. Although it shoots nice, I hate the synthetic stock (much nicer than current synthetic stocks) and want to go with walnut. At some point, I want to pass it on to my son.

With so many people going to synthetic stocks, I would like to buy a nice "takeoff" Walnut stock.

Does the DBM affect what I can use? When I see stocks for sale, they rarely mention the DBM.

If so, is it easy to convert to a traditional magazine?

The DBM stock is different. A standard stock can be modified if you are comfortable doing so.

The easiest thing is the get a DBM stock, of course.

Another option is to get the bottom metal, follower and spring to use with a standard stock, doing away with the DBM.

You cannot convert a DBM to BDL as there are no feed rails in a DBM action. FYI

Actually you can, but I left out an important part (good catch). You must purchase a Wyatt's center feed BDL magazine, rather than use a standard magazine.
