I had a question from a friend today regarding whether the chances of drawing a decent deer tag is better if you apply as a group or individually....both parties having the same number of points. I have no idea how it works. Does anyone here know what would be best?

On the Group Application, you must enter a group leader, and that is his/her CID number. That application gets a number assigned.

If that application number is drawn, all in that group gets a tag as long as there is enough tags left in the quota for all.If not,no one gets tag.

If you submit a single application,it too is assigned a number.

That number and group application number has the same weight.

The only advantage in applying as a group is you all get a tag,or no one gets a tag. So if four people apply as a group, there is not a 4X's better chance of drawing tag vs a single application.

If both parties have the same number of points you are OK.If not,the person with the lowest number of points is the deciding factor. A resident applying along with a nonresident gets little trickier and I can't explain that coherently

If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles
