As I stated my powder source got a bunch of Alliant powders in which were in short supply for a while around here. I wanted to try a few new ones so picked up a pound of each RE16 and RE26. I find load data kind of lacking on Alliant website so looking for some help here. I know Mule Deer and others have done some testing already. Looking as to whether either or both of these would be appropriate for the four cartridges I am currently playing with. 6.5x55 in a Tikka strong action 280 Rem 30/06 300 H&H Just would like to get some starting loads, primers etc..and if either or both are appropriate for the above calibers. Bullet weight may be a factor also. I typically use 140gr in the Swede, 160 in .280, 165-180 in '06, and 180's in the 300 H&H...but can certainly try various weights. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I have the 2016 data downloaded to my iPad. There's plenty of RL26 data for appropriate rounds, but I found nothing for 16, even under the short magnum cartridges they say it's good for. Didn't see it listed in a couple of burn-rate lists either. Guess you'll have to wait for the 2017 book.
On a related note, the new Handloader has a Brian Pearce piece with a slew (as usual for Pearce) of .243 loads. I was hoping for some RL 26 loads, but alas, I'll have to stick with the Alliant ones for now. One thing he stressed in his article was to follow the loads exactly as listed to avoid issues caused by substituting components willy-nilly. I assume the extra caution is due to the .243's fickle nature regarding pressures.
What fresh Hell is this?
