Anyone have experience with this model that has a "universal"- type shellholder? I've used the older version that takes regular shellholders.

Love it!
Wont work for 45 Auto Rim, but everything else its miles better than the std RCBS and is as easy to use as the defunct Lee Auto Prime.

I have one of those and it works pretty well. You do have to change the primer rod and part of the plastic housing when switching primer sizes.

I have both. I use the universal for SR primers and that covers pretty much just .222,.223, and 6.8 cases for me. The shell holder works fine. I use the old style for LR primers and it works fine too, but sometimes is a bit of a PITA to find the right shell holder and it doesn't accept Hornaday shell holders without doing some rework on them first. Wouldn't mind finding another universal to dedicate to LR primers, but I'm not going out of my way at this point.

Thanks for the responses; I was considering buying two to avoid changing over from small to large primers.

Don't consider, do it. Smalls and larges.
That's exactly what we did here and gave the 45AR and 5.7FN a home for the shellholder version; they both need it.

It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

On similar advice, I purchased one a few years ago. No complaints.
