RM,
Why not just stick to the tried and true:
58gr H48313 behind a 130gr NBT.

RM,
Why not just stick to the tried and true:
58gr H48313 behind a 130gr NBT. I ran the numbers on JBM and saw the wind drift is very close and the 110 shoots flatter. This rifle doesn't have a brake so it will recoil less with a lighter bullet.

Anyone have any loads for a .270 Win with Barnes TTSX 110 grainers? I'm interested in the same. I'm also interested in 110 Accubonds and how well they hold up when hitting game at these speeds. Just picked up a Kimber Montana 270 Win 84L and have some 110 TTSX loaded 57g, 57,5, 58, 58.5, and 59.

Have to admit some curiousity with this. I have been much impressed with the performance of 130 gr Etips in the field. With the excellent expansion control shown by the mono construction, seems like some great potential for lighter weight versions. I haven't read of any negative experience by anyone that has reported using them.

Your observation is well put. Infact several 130g bullets are devastating on all kinds of game including Keuka whitetail. I wouldn't hesitate to use many of them or most of them.
One of the characteristics of some of us rifle loonies is the desire to try something else. Thus the questions about things other than the tried and true. You, sir, from other posts you have made here tend to show a great deal of commonsense and frequently a bit of experiential wisdom. I appreciate your observations. From your entry I would feel comfortable to add the 130 Etip to the list of good 270 stuff. Thanks.
Venturing into the different we ask how's the 110TTSX working and with what loads and how about the 110 Accubond?
Thanks Jim

I am planning on some pig hunting (and eating) in April. It occurs to me that this might be a great opportunity to trial a lighter weight mono bullet, and I have a month or so to develop a load. The twist... trying to get this done with an 1899 G 300 Savage. The rifle shoots a variety of 150-180 grain bullets well. I am seriously curious to see how the TTSX performs, so long as they group decently. My standard load has been a 150 gr Partition over a modest dose of TAC or Varget. The rifle wears a Redfield peep sight producing 2" groups at a 100 yards as a routine.
