A local pawn shop has a customized Argentine Mauser for sale that has piqued my interest. Always wanted a 284! Has a custom barrel on it of unknown origin, muzzle break, etc. metalwork is first class, bore immaculate. The only drawback is the model 70 style safety would need tweaking. It works fine, but is stiff. Sitting in a no-name fiberglass stock, with a Weaver scope, Redfield rings.

The pawn shop has a $600 price tag on it and it's been there for a very long time. Given the typical pawn shop mark up, and that it's been there forever, I'll bet I could get it for something in the $300-$350 range.

Wondering if it's worth considering at that price?

At $600 it would need to be pretty, and have proven accuracy for my money. At $300-350 all it would need is for me to fill out the NICS paperwork and get it out the door.
