I am think of the following: SWFA 1x4, Leupold w/Fire-dot, Burris 536/FF3, and the Primary Arms 1-6x24 or the Aimpoint PRO.

As you can see I want to stay in the 450-550$ range.

I have a Leupold 2x7 Firedot-4 on my carbine. Couldn't ask for anything better.

From that list I'd opt for the SWFA 1-4 but when it comes to the power range for a versatile AR, I really like 1-6x so I'd probably lean more towards a Bushnell Strike Eagle 1-6x for value for the SWFA 1-6x if you're alright with spending more $$.....

Yeah, for a musket like that I'd opt for a 1-4, 1-6, 2-7 or something similar.

Musket, LOL. It's an SBR compared to the M1 and M1a.

My bud has a couple 3-9×40 Firedots on a couple of his AR's and likes them.

I think the A4 is a 20" barrel? I'd lean towards the heavier side like an SWFA fixed 10x or fixed 6x depending on how far you plan to shoot.

On my carbines, I have an SWFA 3-9 on one, a 1-6 Fire dot and on red dot on another. They all serve their purpose. If I had to choose one it'd be the vx6 1-6 fire dot on a carbine and an SWFA 3-9 on a rifle.
