Never heard of this stuff until a day ago.. Also heard (and found out) that it's literally sold out in this area.. Even Total Wine had bare shelves at that spot.. WTH?

Sister and BIL had a chance to try some in FL and raved about it.. Word musta got out.. laugh

Very good stuff. They also make Pappi VanWinkle and Blanton's. VanWinkle is actually just a good Blanton's.

Buffalo Trace is my staple bourbon. Always a bottle in the cupboard. Bang for buck its hard to beat.

Good stuff for sure. Working my way through some Basil Hayden's right now, also a solid choice.

I feel the effects of BT the next morning[usually], not so with some others. But I do like it.

BT has been talked about and talked about on the 'Fire for years.

I've kept it in the house for the past 7 years, though I only use it for Old Fashioned and Mint Juleps.

It's a little too sweet for me for regular drinking.

I should revisit it, I remember thinking it was pretty good but I drink less bourbon than other whiskies. I think I drank most of it in Old Fashioneds.

Damn good stuff. Just getting too pricey for me now.

Buffalo Trace is good. Weller's is better. Both are darn hard to find around here

Should try Total Whiskey wink

grin

Seriously though, I'm surprised that you have never heard of it. Like Steelhead said, it's been talked about A LOT here on the 'fire.

Ingwe turned me on to it. Curse him, now I know the difference between mediocre and excellent- in whisky! smile

If you're ever driving through Montana on I 90 I have the little grocery/liquor/gas station and soon to be gun store in St. Regis. I usually have two or three bottles of Buffalo Trace on the shelf, Blanton's and sometimes pappy van winkles. The name of the store is Stang's Food Center, and is a Sinclair gas station.

Redneck you've missed out on much chatter about Buffalo trace. The fire and its reviews here were the reason I got some to try for myself. I know I'm in the minority but I found it to be average at best.

I like W.L. Weller much better than buffalo trace, its cheaper too. I'm not a fan of Buffalo Trace at all but Weller's really nice. Different tastes for everyone I guess.

I did their tour in the last year or 2. There's no better smell in the world than being in a barrel house...

I wasn't necessarily floored by what they poured in the tasting room, but there was one particular vat in the bottling house that smelled so fine... I shoulda been wearing a condom... blush

I'll take Jefferson's Very Small Batch @ $36 1/5 all day over BT.

I've been drinking 40 Creek lately. Very smooth and not too pricey.

LOL.....I'd have to agree....it's drinkable but for the price I'll take some good ol Wild Turkey every time.
Matter of fact WT101's my go to although I'll pick a bottle of Bullet or Elija Craig once in awhile if it's on sale.

Not to stray too far off topic but on a whim I picked up a jug of Jim Beam Bonded 100 proof recently.
I'm not much of a JB fan but it was on sale and at least with bonded whiskey you know what your getting so I took a $20 gamble.
Definitely the best JB I've sampled. I'd buy it again for that price.
