Got my new-to-me 760 in Monday. Pulled the K6 with the see-thru mounts off and the WGRS came in yesterday so I got that mounted. Forgot most of my handloads were loaded long for my Tikka's modded mag but i had some 125 Speer TNT loads that I used.

Was shooting the Glock 19 & 26 as well as the GP44 so didn't spend a whole lot of time on the rifle (rain was a comin').

I setup at ~40 yds to see if I was on paper (shot 1). It was, so I paced off 97 yds (as far as I could safely go in that spot) so was probably about 93-95 yds (forgot my LRF). Shot 2&3 and adjusted a skosh. Then shot the next four. I think that's my best group ever with open sights. This thing has potential! (Of course, next time out I'll probably miss a barn door from the inside). I was resting on a front bag only over the hood of the Jeep. I then set up some pigeons at 50 and 70 yds and was able to first round them into powder, offhand.

Might just maybe have to take this thing hunting this year! smile What a sweet, smooth rifle.

Very nice! Looks like you might want to keep that one around.

The 760's can be deceptively accurate. I used to volunteer at our club sight in days and when the 760's came up, they were always pretty darned accurate. Of course, it didn't hurt that they were usually being shot by some older fella who had probably been shooting it half his life....

My dad had a 760 and if I told you how well he shot it (with open sights) you would call me a liar...
We bought him a scope once and he refused to mount it on the rifle.

Sheister,

I wouldn't call you a liar due to the fact my old 760 in .300 Savage, that my son now owns, is one sweet shooting rifle. It has always shot sub-MOA....

Very nice. I've also seen and had some damn good shooting 760's. Yours looks like it will definitely work...

I used to call coyotes in Kansas with a guy who shot a Remington 760 in 243. He told me that he started using it after he saw a picture of one of the Burnham brothers shooting a 760 in 244 when calling predators in Texas and thought "why not?". I remember that he carried it with a regular magazine when we were moving or getting set up, but when we got settled he'd swap for a 10-round magazine.

My favorite style of 760 are the BDLs from the mid-1960's thru early 1970's with the basket-weave "checkering, but the only 760 that I hunt with is a well worn 270.

Sure wouldn't. All but one I've had shot like that.
