I'll be down there for it. Wouldn't mind meeting up at the concession stands for a cold one at a given time.

I'm sure there are some more members who will be there. Let's see how many are interested in having a cold one and we'll set something up.

Just talked to Gunner500. He's GTG. If you have your choice of Friday or Saturday night to get together, which night would each of you prefer?

L.W. The building is 11 acres and it's 85% full of tables. A couple of things to keep in mind. It's not universally applicable but it's pretty close. 1. take notes of where you see something you want. 2. If you find something you want, buy it. if you don't, one of 2 things are going to happen. 1. You'll forget where you saw it. (see above) or, 2. It'll be gone when you get back to it.

Okay. Let's start a mobile phone number list and we'll communicate through text messages during the Friday-Saturday time frame. The text messages will be easier comm than trying to use posts and pm's. I'll start.

Although I won't be coming to this one, the Tulsa show is on our bucket list asap. I have read of the size and the difficulty in getting around. It is most likely that when I do get to come that there are 1 or 2 Ruger rifles that will be #1-2 on my list. Here is my question...hope it's not too stupid. But, is there a section where most of those whose majority of their guns are made by Ruger be in the same section of the venue? And if so, how would I know what part of the building they will be in?

The Ruger Collectors Association has displays & quite a few dealers who buy/sell/trade, they are usually concentrated on the west side of the lower level, which is along the wall where the upper/lower levels meet.

It's a buyers market now but the vendors have yet to realize this.
As for certain guns in certain areas/departments....not really

Just to note, the Ruger Collectors only display at the November Show. AND, for the last 3 years, the displays are representing the Ruger Owners & Collectors Society, Inc. www.rugersociety.comNo displays have been furnished by RCA members in the last 3 years. Thanks for allowing me to clarify who brings their Ruger displays.

I tend to leave my Husker hats home when in Oklahoma, too many locals seem to jack up their prices when they see it. Probably be wearing a green Cabela's hat and a red Cabela's jacket stopping to look at any old Savage stuff.

Did y'all here the AD at the front door at 4:30pm ? EMS was out front.
Some one said a cop shot him self in the hand with a 10 mm??? I was about 100 yards from the front door, and it was pretty damn loud, whatever it was.
Any of you OK residents see anything about it on the 6:00 local news?

Did y'all here the AD at the front door at 4:30pm ? EMS was out front.
Some one said a cop shot him self in the hand with a 10 mm??? I was about 100 yards from the front door, and it was pretty damn loud, whatever it was.
Any of you OK residents see anything about it on the 6:00 local news? holy chit.stuff like that will end gun shows. It did when a hole got shot through the roof of the old Sears building in Springfield.years ago.

I didn't hear or see anything about any AD at this show. I'll see what I can find out tomorrow morning.
On a happier note, thanks to all who came to the impromptu lunch meeting today. Brassman, Gunner500, Idholton, Sambo3006, Sonofthegael, Tedthorn and Whelennut. I hope I've not left anyone out and If I have it's because I'm just getting old.
My thanks to all of you for coming out today. It was fun, putting faces with names and it confirmed my suspicions about how much more we have in common than what separates us.
If we left out anyone it was purely accidental and hope you'll accept our apologies. For those who we missed today, please join us in November for the next version of the 24hourcampfire, Tulsa chapter.

Any of you OK residents see anything about it on the 6:00 local news? I was talking to some dude out back of a show there. It wasn't the Wannenmacher show...some assmunch shot himself out front. Sirens all over. Not much came of it. I've seen a lot of stuff at the Fairgrounds over the years.

I saw the ambulance at the front door about 10 minutes later. They left quickly, so I did not get to see who got loaded into it. One of the crew at the front door told me that it was a local cop with a 10mm. Didn't know for sure if it was true or not. That's why I was asking if any other Campfire members in attendance today were out front and saw what happened.

You can by-god sure shoot it Sambo, when another get together happens, let me know and I'll bring it. Several here at the 'Fire have fired that old 577 Nitro, IIRC it has left an impression on a couple.

The building is very impressive with it's suspension roof Suspension roof.....I'll be damned. Never seen such a thing. I'm sure it is but it doesn't look safe to me. A smart way to eliminate all the pillars.

Anybody drag anything home?
G500 mention sky high prices. Kinda seeems the norm for most shows anymore. Folks more interested in showing off their wares than selling them it seems.
Hope the gun tables out numbered the sword and jerky vendors! Lol.

I bought an SWFA 6X and my wife bought up a bunch of red AR paraphernalia
But prices weren't very competitive.
I even made one vender mad and he tried to run me off when I tried to haggle a better price on a rifle.....
Sales must not be his thing

5.7 miles of tables is a lot to soak up that's just why anymore if I see something I could be interested in and it's priced way too high I just keep walking and find somebody else it's closer to the ballpark. I guess I still might make an exception if it was something really hard to find

Well, that was a waste of 8hrs and $40. What a pathetic event. I don't know what happened but something changed over the last 2 yrs. if you didn't need something for an AR , an led light, a tazer, jerky or something that is overpriced, there wasn't anything worth the cost of admission. I found one guy in the whole place selling bulk plated bullets. Everyone else wanted to sell you 50 or 100 at a ridiculous price or just remanufactued loaded rounds. Someone had 500 small pistol primers for 125.00. Powder was everywhere but powder valley was absent. At some point, someone has convinced the gun dealers that thier crap is made out of gold instead of steel. The place is not full of vendors like it used to be either. They may have 4000 tables in there but a percentage are unoccupied. They used to have armorers there that would install hand gun sights, aftermarket barrels or accesories. Not anymore. I took my hand gun in there to have a new set of sights put on. Nope, not today. They got my money for the last time.

I was standing inside the show about 20 yards from the front door when I heard the shot. I walked over there and it appeared to me that one of the gun checkers was trying to install a lock tie on the gun when it discharged. His left hand was bloody. The report didn't sound that loud so I thought it was probably a small caliber handgun.

I did confirm with Tulsa PD there was an AD in front of the building yesterday afternoon but the victim/shooter was okay. They would not mention any details and I didn't press for information.
I've had a table at the Tulsa show since 1985 or so and I can't recall as large a crowd as was present Saturday. Today was quite normal but yesterday was completely off the chart. It was mid afternoon before you could see beyond one row. Not a good day for sellers, however. Our show was very average, at best.

I'll be back next year, though. At least I did end up getting a smoking deal on a new Randall Model # 1 Fighter in stainless steel with leather wrapped handle. And I also found a un-fired pristine 1957 model Ruger Single Six .22 in the scarce / low production Light Weight version.

I agree, prices were bordering on or exceeding stupid for the most part. I did manage to pick up 5 lbs of Ramshot Hunter for $60 Saturday afternoon, and bought a Remington Custom Shop matte finish barrel with sights in 8mm Rem Mag. I already have an 8mm mag but I have a stainless 700 action and HS Precision stock sitting around so what else is a fella supposed to do?

Maybe the sellers will finally figure you can't ask 1 1/2 times going price for $hit just because it is a freaking show!!

The highlight of the show was definately lunch with the Campfire mob. Prices did indeed seem way high. Someone, probably Gunner, said "Makes you appreciate online buying" & I have to agree. Still, there were a few interesting booths. Ed's Contenders had a lot of hardware there if you like such things. Some of the custome knife & stock makers had interesting goods.
But unfortunately most was plastic pistols & AR/AK stuff, that's fine but I have all I'll need.
OSU, thanks for organizing.

I enjoy seeing things that are not available localy.
Antiques guns by the thousands and a nice trip away from home for my wife and I.
We hope to hit the Knob Creek machine gun shoot this weekend and then it's time to get serious about catching fish

Dang on the baby sitting deal, sounds like you scored some descent wares though, hopefully we'll meet up the next time. Looking forward to it!

It was nice to meet some campfire folks from outside the Savage circle, and that Colt pistol was just plain cool. I'll pass on shooting any of Gunner's guns tho after seeing the bullets he was passing around. Holy cow!
Found one old gun that had to come home with me, and took the name of another person that has a 1940 Savage 99 that's 100 serial numbers off of one that I have. I just went to look, so I wasn't disappointed. Occasionally I come home with a great deal from there, but not always. Definitely find more great deals online, but it's good to go someplace where you can see stuff in person.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

Good morning, guys...and Mrs. Thorn, too. I got home about 4am this morning after a long 14 hr trip home. Dang near had some fresh 'high speed beef' on the hood north of Milwaukee. I had no trouble staying awake the rest of the way home . Gunner, thanks for that custom .400Whelen cartridge for my collection. Impressive round! Good to see you again, buddy! I really enjoyed meeting everyone and putting faces to the names on Saturday. No doubt the highlight of the trip for me. Thanks, Cliff for setting up our gathering! I resisted buying that well beat-up Remington 870 for $849 all weekend Then about noon on Sunday, I finally convinced a seller to part with a sweet little 20ga Browning O&U at a substantially lower price. Just gotta wear'm down, I guess! Best wishes. Paul

I despise a thief! I hope they track them down and hang them!

I kind of thought something like that had happened, they were checking bags and guns when I checked out which I don't recall happening before.
A couple of years ago someone stole one and they announced it over the loudspeaker repeatedly until he/she was caught. The whole crowd clapped & cheered.
I guess this time they decided to play it stealthy.

I was at the Tulsa Wannenmachet show today. That's where a shot went off at the front door at 4:30pm.
For those that made the trip, here's your [color:#3333FF]Tulsa Gun Show ND, shaking my head, can't believe it. Well, yes, actually I can believe it....

I guess this time they decided to play it stealthy. I was at one and the same thing happened. I'd seen the guy walking around. I was standing there talking to a dealer I know and he got distracted. Then he told this guy standing beside me to stay right there. The guy headed towards the door but they got him. He had picked up some little Walther or something. The whole crowd cheered when they took him out in cuffs. In fact, that might have been in the other Fairgrounds building.
