Kind of cool that you got the bug at this point in time, Dog. The cartridge is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. There's obviously been lots of satisfied customers since 1906.
I was hooked on the Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. at the age of ten or eleven, though I hadn't actually handled, or even seen one, yet. It were those awesome "Buck Buster" ads in Outdoor Life and Fur-Fish-Game magazines that got me to dreamin'. My Dad knew everything worth knowing about guns, and he confirmed to my satisfaction that the ads didn't lie, as the .35 Remington was, sure enough, a proven gitter. He gave me my first one, and it has lived up to its billing.
God bless great Dads and Uncles, eh?
Edit: Oops. The 100th birthday was not this year. Wonder how many checks I've screwed up since New Year's Eve. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
