I'm joining the discussion late, but GOOD ON YOU DAVE!! for bringing your cousin's (and best friend's) son into your life.
Sounds like the camp will be in the family for some time to come.

Yeah, it's because the LVAD has an external set of batteries that you change and charge yourself. It doesn't change your hunting other than getting rid of the wheezy, tired feeling when walking aroud. Like I said, several patients still fish, they just try really, really hard to stay in the boat. One thing I've always liked about our cardiology group is that asking if you shoot is a standard question pre-pacemaker. They'll put it on the non-shooting side for you, even if it's a little more of a PITA. Regardless of how this goes, we ain't doing that. I have no desire to live attached to a damned machine.

I'd reconsider that stance.

No kidding Tzone. I gotta believe it is a rather small little thing.
On a lighter note, we could help him with the batteries by hooking him up to a car battery and watch him run around like the Energizer Bunny! Hey Goph, the time is soon approaching when the Chickenbuckers take over your health care. What could go wrong?

Lord help us all. I'd think the last thing you guys would want is to put up with me for any longer than necessary, and in a more pissy mood than usual!

My brother told me two of our old buddies who used to hunt out of the camp next to ours in Pa. are coming up to our camp to give it another go this fall. These guys are the last ones to hunt with my dad and the other original members of our camp, and there's no telling how many hunts they have left in them. I'm gonna try to make it down to join them. I really don't want to miss this opportunity to hunt with them, and hear stories about our guys. We refer to our camp's original members, who are all departed now as the Olde Guard. Now, my brother and I are the Olde Guard. Time sure flies by in a hurry.

Well, I was into the urologist today. I will be undergoing chemotherapy. Monday after next, I go in for a hormone shot which shuts down my production of testosterone. Apparently cancer likes testosterone, so they shut this down. I wait 8 weeks and then undergo daily radiation treatments for two months. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, that's the end of it. The hormone shot wears off in six months. Assuming this cures the cancer, I'll need a blood draw every 6 months for two years to check my PSA count, and then annual blood draws for the same test thereafter. They caught the cancer very early and give me an excellent chance of survival.
Side effects of the hormone shots are exhaustion and lethargy. I am cautiously optimistic that you poor bastids are stuck with me for a long, long time.

My Lund hasn't sold yet. Anybody looking for a 14' fishing rig? I gotta get rid of this so I can start working on the other boat.

You have a lot of competition for the 14' boats man. But you're priced right. It'll sell.

Yeah, there are a lot of them on Craigslist right now. I think there must be some law in Minnysota that you have to own at least one red 14' Lund boat.
Man, we've put a ton of fish in that boat over the years. I've had it for 25 years now. I hooked up with something real big on Prior one time-it spun the boat end for end as I fought it. I was longlining a Lindy Rig off the little island up by the DeWitt ramp. Never did get a look at it-it slipped the hook up close to the boat. I was using a leech. I'm guessing either a big northern or one of those torpedo sized carp that swim around in there.

Hey Goph, that sounds encouraging! I expect to see you up here for Youth Day!
Shutting down the testosterone, eh? There really are a lot of places one could go with that as far as humor goes, but I will just ask.... So you are going to start wearing a skirt?
Keep your chin up and a smile on your face and this will be over in no time and fall will be upon us!
I take it Nate won? I voted every day I remembered. Which was 4 times I think. Not only did I want Nate to win, but I am personally not a fan of those lowriders.
