I have always hunted family land, public or military bases. Never wanted to deal with the hassle of juggling permissions.
Last year a lady I know through work offered me her family land where she lives....nobody else turkey hunts it, crawling with gobblers. I took her up on it a couple times and it is a great place.
This year about a month ago she starts telling how the gobblers at it again every morning. Offers me to hunt it, just let her know when I will be there. I look at my schedule a couple weeks ago tomorrow morning looks like it will be the best opportunity. So I tell her two weeks ago and she says great. Yesterday I bought my tags. About an hour ago she calls and some distant relative is coming in to hunt the place tomorrow, and he will be out there several times a week for the rest of the season.
Well, OK. Can't say I'm happy about getting buzzed off the night before. I own my own place an hour away I just can't make it over there much. This has pissed me off more than I thought it would.
