We have been visiting relatives in several states this month.. Of course I checked out several gunshots in each. Come to find I cannot buy a long gun in Mich.. Saw a couple at Williams, but w/ the cost of shipping, no deal. My next venture turned out better.. Came across a nearly new 700 adl, an older one in .30-06.. Been thinking of picking on up for awhile.. Have a nice old custom m54 Win, but it has an old B & L 2.5-8 scope on it great when sighted in but a bummer to keep readjusting. So when I spotted this one I decided it should go west w/ us.. Haven't fired it yet, probably won't till we get home..

Why can't you buy a rifle in MI?

Sam thanks.
Smoke, they said they could not or would not sell me a long gun w/out shipping to a Wyoming dealer.. Got the same crap in Texas when I tried to buy a m 31 trap gun. Pa. Dealers said it might have been store policy!π‘

I always like the ADL wood and regretted I never found a LH model.

WCH,
Nice find! I like the looks of the classic 700's.
I believe the policy of not selling to a resident of another state is pretty common. It's simply easier to only sell to resident of your own state or to another FFL for an out-of-state transaction. You can purchase long guns directly from an FFL in another state as long as the firearm is allowed in your state of residence. If a shop only sells to another FFL in your state, they don't need to worry about which firearms are restricted in your state as the local FFL will know.

I've got a 30-06 that looked exactly like that in 1975 when I bought it new. Forty plus years of use have left a few character marks and the blue is a little thin in places. The stock is still in the house, but it now wears an Edge stock.
I don't use it much anymore. It had a habit of dropping the firing pin with no trigger pull and was retired back in the 1990's. Never did it with a round in the chamber fortunately. I finally got around to putting a Timney in it 2 years ago before I pass it down to one of the grandkids. I have been shooting it some lately. But I've just come to like others better. But I do have a lot of memories with that rifle, it took most of the deer and bear I've killed.

We sold many long guns to people from out of state at the dealer I worked for.
Don't roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

Hope that one is as accurate as the tack driver I had that looked just like it. Loved that rifle but had others I used more so I sold it to my brother to give to my nephew for a very good price. He shot his first elk with it last year! You will enjoy it!

Very Nice! I love old Rem 700's, especially in 30-06. I just got done refinishing the stock on a 1962 ADL carbine 30-06 I picked up this winter.

Nice grab, Wyo!
Do you know what year it is?
Looks very similar to my old '66 ADL in .270 except mine had the straight comb.
Should be a sweet shooter from Remington's good old days.

WYO, a really nice rig, and a good snag. judging by the checkering pattern, it would have been made in the period between 1969 to 1973, if i'm seeing that pattern correctly. had a .270 that looked just like it, bought brand new in 1972. it wore a Weaver straight six power... will it be used in dispatching a few yipper dogs???

I have a very similar one in 270. For a lot of years it was my only rifle.

If that riflew shoots like the used .308 BDL I snagged a few years back you will be very, very happy.l Sokd the BDL to fund another rifle. Dumb.

Got around to sighting in this 06.. Threw together some 150 gr. hand loads to sight in.. Fired one quick group, about 1 1/4 ".. Will have to try a bit more since I was shooting over the hood of my truck & two goldens were trying to keep track of the action from inside the truck..
One of the reasons I picked this rifle up is I had a large coffee can full of once fired brass.. Figured I would load a bunch just for plinking.. Now I can 't find the brass.π¬
But while digging around I did find about 4 and a half boxes of new factory stuff.π
