Too much trouble to work your own up after checking Hodgdon on-line for starting loads with the Hornady A-Max?

I've shot a bunch of Sierra 140 gamekings, but the the 120 pro hunters. I did have a mid charge load of H4350 and the 120 ballistic tip.

The problem I'm having with the CM is that factory ammo shoots so darn well, I've not spent any time attempting to develop a load for it.

My 6.5 Creed with 120 Barnes and 123 Scenar shot best with Varget. 39.7 gr in the SCENAR , 40 gr in the Barnes. Might want to try varget with your bullet. My 40X .308 target rifle likes varget also with 168 Sierra and 178 Hornady BTHPs. I don't argue with accuracy and Varget came through on these 2 rifles.

Me too! 39.5 Varget and 123 Scenar, and they go about 2900 fps. Mine for whatever reason likes these better than any 140 grain load I"ve tried yet.

Yep, 123 Scenar over Varget is a winner in the Creed.
It's hard to beat that combo.

The problem I'm having with the CM is that factory ammo shoots so darn well, I've not spent any time attempting to develop a load for it. True that. My CM was a new project this past Fall. I bought some ammo on the Classifieds and hunted with it. It is very accurate, but as a Loony, I'll work up other loads for next Fall. But, the CM is a great round for those who don't reload; factory fodder is excellent. DF

Talked to a guy at the LGS who manages the reloading dept. He said H4350 is what all the local guys are using.

I'm gonna try CFE-223 (Pwr Pro 2000LR). It's about half way between H-4350 and Varget. I have both, heard they're one and the same. I also have RL-16. Lots of good choices. My Creed likes a bunch of combos, is one of the least finicky rounds I've worked with. Now, why would someone keep looking for a load when Varget/123 Scenar shoots one hole groups? Hmmm... A bonafide compulsive Loony will shoot out a barrel, looking for the magic grail with a one hole combo already in the book... Good thing, Creed barrels last a long time... DF
