Clark, Are you starting to question the 'hawks management yet? Geno PS yeah I know GFM. I just couldn't resist. I was hoping they'd win in case San Jose made it thru the first round, Rinne has our number too. A certain somebody said we'd all be sick of winning. The 'Hawks agreed. Let somebody else win the Cup for a change. It was getting embarrassing. Dave

You don' do that trade because you think the 49'ers are going to take your guy at two. You do it because some other team is trying to trade up to #2 to take your guy. Expensive? Yes. But, if you're convinced he's your guy then you do it.

But, if you're convinced he's your guy then you do it. Exactly. The price was surely very steep. If he becomes a "franchise" quarterback, then he was cheap at that price. Imagine being in a biz where you've got a lil film on a guy and know your industry
Some great qbs taken in the 1st round, but most great ones in your biz taken much later than round 1
You have to pay the fng tens of millions to find out if he's a bust or not ?
Helluva a bizness

Trubiskey isn't a better/worse risk that about a half dozen QBs this year. Hence it was drastic overrreach. The Bears could have traded down and come out ahead.

Raise your hand if you think Trubiskey would have still been there at #3?
Yep. But the 49er's played some serious poker. (and likely fielded offers from other teams) The Bears likely thought Cleveland would try to get back in there (packaging picks) for a chance at that QB before the Bears could draft. So the team that DESPERATELY needs a QB and could have taken any of the three QB's taken, opted to trade down from the 12 pick completely. I think Cleveland might actually be headed in the right direction. Bears fans - THE BROWNS didn't think Trubisky was worth it. THE [bleep] BROWNS! LMAO.

I'm not appreciating your sense of humor. Clark I don't follow football so I had hoped your team would do well. Besides, I'm not sure I have a sense of humor anymore, 3 surgeries on one eye since Sept 1 last year and I'm becoming quite grumpy. Especially after the Sharks lost! Geno

No doubt the risk was high and unacceptable to a lot of people (the vast majority of Bear fans comes to mind). I believe they saw Trubisky as "the one" and made a panic grab. If they turn out to be correct no one will remember the risk they took very long. After their second round pick, however, you could certainly argue the Bears are pouring gas on a dumpster fire. This could rank right up there with the Hershel Walker and Ricky Williams trades in the end. Not as bad, but worthy of honorable mention.
