They let me go home yesterday afternoon. Had to be able to pee on my own to get discharged. Two catheter incidents, and I NEVER want to experience that again. Slept well, but this morning, the original pain meds have worn of, and it's pretty unpleasant. Stuck around the house for about a month, then can get back to some activities.
Anterior approach, with a tiny incision. Non cemented device.
The surgery itself was a huge success though, just have to get through the rest of it. Thanks for all the support. smile..

So now we can call you a "Hipster" Sam?

Heal soon my friend.. and hope that pain stuff doesn't hang around long.

Best wishes for a fast recovery, so you're back in the game soon.

cheers

Again, wishing you the best.

and I'll reiterate,

PT is your friend when you can get it started. It helped/helps my wife tremendously.

Good luck, stay "spunky"

Home nurse just left. All systems go. PT in an hour. Good appetite and well hydrated. Easy peasy so far. 😜

A word regarding PT, follow the doctor and your therapist orders. For PT to be effective you need to do it as often as prescribed, no more, no less. For the first few weeks the PT will visit you at home, between visits you will need a helper to assists you. Your therapist will
explain how they are to help you. Effective pain control means taking your pain meds 1/2 hr. before your therapy appointment and icing the hip for 20mins. after. A gel cold pad is very effective, wrap it in a towel or pillow case so there is no direct skin contact. Following
this protocol I had an excellent recovery, some aspects went faster than I anticipated. Now 10 yrs. since surgery I don't even think of them and if I don't tell folks I have had both hips replaced they would never know. Like you I had put surgery off for a year, had I known
how well it would go I would have not waited.
