What is your opinion on a German #4 reticIe in a scout scope? I have a Marlin 1894C 357 mag 18.5" lever gun. I have an XS Ghost Ring sights and scout scope rail. I have a Leupold M8 2.5x IER scout scope with standard duplex reticle. Was thinking about having reticle changed to German #4 reticle and having parallelex set at 75yds. I will be using this combo for small game and deer 100yds and under with jacketed 158gr SP bullets. I chronograph ed 1835fps average with an extreme spread of 4fps. Your opinion would be appreciated.

I've ran scout scopes on several Marlin rifles a number 4 recticle would have been great. I'd say go for it.

I'd be surprised if you have any parallax in that scope. If I remember right, it doesn't even have a focus adjustment. I assume you need a more visible reticle for the scope ? If so, the #4 might not be much of an improvement. If it were mine and I wanted something for short range work, my first choice would be the German #1. E

You are correct it doesn't have rhe adjustable focus. I called Leupold and they said parallax is set at 150yds.
