I would normally pull the choke a bit for engine warm up to keep the rpm up a bit higher, but I was enjoying the fact that she'd run down that low. It made me feel good about the carb rebuild because that idle port inboard of the butterfly is the clogginest of cloggins.
If it pulled fuel properly that low, then things went well with the carb work.
Something clever here.

Oil pressure too low at slow idle? That and the bottom end goes clunk, clunk, clunk with hot oil. Valve train doesn't like it at all. Everything should work in harmony. Not very technical but true.

Yup, but find a LONG hill with a fat chick on back. Listen and feel the motor. Poor man's dyno.

I was just curious, every tech article I have read or watched they are jetting up without even reading the plugs. Was HD notoriously lean in jetting? Are these articles fattening up the mixture due to increased % of ethanol? (I planned on only burning non ox)

My early 90s carb bikes up till they went to FI were notoriously lean to comply with the emission regs. Was a real pisser to make a quick stop for coffee or a sammie and the engine didn't want to restart when warm.
Don't get rid of that CV carb as it's very smooth.
YMMV.

Thanks, I'll look into jumping up a bit in the main and pilot.
Those articles are very good, I just wasn't sure why everybody was jetting up. The emissions thing makes sense.

The late eighties bikes were also leaned out for emissions. We did a good business selling jets for the Japanese bikes back then.
