I have a No.1 RSI in 30-06 in good-very good shape. I have had it about 10-15 years and used it but never abused it. It shoots very well and with tuned loads it will clover leaf at 100 yards. I have had the trigger smoothed and adjusted to 3 lbs by a very qualified gunsmith who specialized with No.1's. Also the factory tang safety latch has been replaced by an NECG one so the brass doesn't hang up on ejection. I'm looking for either a fair price to sell the rifle or for someone who is a qualified gunsmith who works on No.1's. I would ask the smith that worked on it but he is no longer around. I'm looking to either build a rifle in 338-06 or rebarrel this rifle to that caliber. I only have so much room and can only shoot one at a time so this rifle happened to be low man on the totem pole. I don't have a photobucket account or ever figured out how to post pics on this site. So, if you have info and want some pics I can e-mail them to you.

The tweaks won't add too much to the overall value although nice touches. Like rifles in good to very good are roughly $1K on gun broker. New in the box a bit more and highly sought calibers like the 7X57 can fetch some more to the right shopper. As far as re-barreling to a .338 caliber I'm not sure that contour will allow it. Might be better off building that in a Rem 700.

About six months ago I sold an RSI in .30-06 for $1200.00 and included a $50 gun case with it. It was NIB. Wood wasn't spectacular but had a little figure in it.

Wonder if the existing barrel could be re-bored to .338? Might be worth a phone call to JES ? http://www.35caliber.com/8.htmlGuy

I don't know the diameter of the barrel on that model but I had a #1a rebored to 338/06 by jes and it shoots very good. don't know if it was really worth it but the rifle came from a passed dear friend who drug it around south Carolina on a four wheeler and the bore was pitted.

Personally, I wouldn't go dinking around with a nice rifle that's shooting well, especially a model that is known to be a little difficult in that area. Might be better to let it go to a good new home.
Or find some room someplace forbthe new one.
What fresh Hell is this?

That is how things are working out. Found a donor to make a 338-'06 AI. The 30-'06 will remain as is and come out for a cameo once in a while.

I'd probably buy it, if it's a red pad with 3x wood, but not for $1200. People on the web talk a good game, but at the major auction house auctions, no Ruger No. 1 in 06 will bring more that $850 or so. If it were a 7MM Weatherby, well, Katie bar the door !
