I've got a 7mm-08 barrel threaded for a remington action. I've been searching for a donor action for it and have two likely candidates a remington 700 sps DM and a remington model Seven. So to the collective knowledge here which would you choose?

It depends on the barrel contour/length.

Light barrel = Model Seven
Heavier barrel = 700

Also, it sounds like you need to decide if you like factory DM or not?

Stay away from the DM... and I'd go 700 for better/more stocks/parts etc.

I have a new 243 donor that I have for sale in the classifieds if you'd like to make an offer as well.

Unfortunately neither of our national governments are supportive towards private citizens bringing firearms or ammunition across the border permanently. Otherwise I would be interested in bringing one in from the US.
It is a 22 mountain rifle contour and I would like to leave it the full length. Floor plate vs DM not terribly concerned either way.

A 700 in 7-08 shooting 162's ELD's from AICS mags would be sweet. I screwed together a .260 last year with a sporter bbl and love it with 147's. Had to dremel a spot on the feed ramp. Binderless Accurate Mags, PTG Stealth and a McM Hunter.

I have 2 factory DM actions and they work perfectly. I would lean towards the 700 DM over the 7. Little more room as well.

Sounds like the DM and lack of aftermarket stocks may not be as big of an issue as I built it in my head. Probably going to go that route.
