I was about to pull the trigger on a Tikka T3X for my son, but then I saw one for sale that indicated it had a 13 7/8 inch length of pull. My son is about five feet right now and I was going to buy him a full sized rifle because his youth model 7 actually seemed a little short but I didn't realize that Tikka had such a long length of pull. Does anybody know if 13 7/8 is accurate. I really didn't want to have buy him the compact model as it has a 20 inch barrel but I might have to get the rifle to fit for the next year or so.

Just measured my two. The T3x Hunter is a full 14" and the T3 SS Lite is 13 3/4" - maybe give those numbers a 1/8" leeway for error in measurement but they still come out fairly long.

Tikka offers a compact model. The Adjustable model says that it is adjustable for LOP and cheek height, but I have never been able to track down what the LOP range is.

LOP figures can be deceptive because the position of the trigger varies so much in relation to the rest of the action. My Tikkas are both just over 13.5". I'd go ahead and get a standard one--kids outgrow youth models a lot faster than you'd think.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

I just installed a Interchangeable vertical pistol grip on my T3x, which may help the young lad reach the trigger with the pad of his finger, as it has me. I also installed an interchangeable Beavertail forearm. I also installed a Yodave trigger spring, which brings trigger pull way down to 1 lb. 4 oz. hope this helps.
